Description:

ART OF THE NOUN: PEOPLE, PLACES, THINGS
Writers Studio with Marianne Rogoff
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

August 6-13, 2008

Marianne Rogoff's Writers Studio is offered this summer in the vibrant cobblestone town of San Miguel de Allende. Located on a high desert plateau at the geographical center of mainland Mexico, its climate and ambiance are treats for the senses.

San Miguel is a well-known international expatriate and artist community with excellent restaurants, live music everywhere, a central plaza called the jardin, and thermal baths a short bus or taxi ride away.

Fly in to Leon, Guanajuato, where shuttle van will transport the group to the hotel (1.5 hours). Hotel Posada de Las Monjas is simple and affordable, with tiled courtyards, balconies, and rooftop views, a short walk from Bellas Artes and el centro.

Five-day Writers Studio (Thursday thru Monday) includes morning writing sessions, evening critiques, and individual consultation when desired, with time to write, roam, and siesta all afternoon and on the last day. On one of the days the writing session will be held at La Gruta hot spring caves.

Price $1350, includes tuition and 5 days hotel breakfast, room 7 nights (double occupancy; add $150 for single), and round-trip airport shuttles in Mexico. Please make your own flight arrangements. Budget additional $50/day (more or less, as you wish) for food and fun, more if you like shopping.

RSVP to confirm your desire. Deposit $500 by June 5, balance July 5, to Marianne Rogoff, 936 Sir Francis Drake Blvd #306, Kentfield CA 94904; 415.455.0781; mrogoff@cca.edu
