Description:SUMMER WRITERS CONFERENCE:
The 36-year-old Santa Barbara Writers Conference offers more than two dozen workshops along with speakers, panel discussions and other special events intended to help budding and seasoned writers improve their craft. Workshops include literary and commercial fiction, nonfiction (travel, essay and journalism), poetry, screenwriting, humor, mystery, young adult and children's literature. Our format is primarily read-and-critique, and so we encourage writers to bring work in progress. We also have onsite writing contests and Agents & Editors Day, whereby writers can sign up to meet one-on-one with an agent or editor for an additional fee. Held  June 21-26, 2008 at the beautiful Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort on the beach in Santa Barbara.

MARCH POETRY CONFERENCE:
Experience a weekend of poetry in the Santa Barbara foothills with national Pulitzer prize-winning poet Philip Levine! A lovely retreat center in the foothills of Santa Barbara is the setting for this special weekend March 28-30, 2008, during which Levine will read his poetry and offer Master Class workshop.

YEAR-ROUND WEEKEND INTENSIVES:
About eight times a year we bring no more than 10 writers together with a seasoned pro from our summer conference faculty to go deep into a specific aspect of the craft of writing during a weekend intensive. It features a welcome reception Friday evening and intensive instruction all day Saturday and Sunday until 3 p.m., with lunch included both days. Check out our website for more information on upcoming Intensives.
