Offering writing workshops and special events during nine days in July, the Taos Summer Writers' Conference is the largest such conference in the state and the only one in New Mexico sponsored by a university creative writing program. Summer 2008 marks the tenth year of the conference. All events associated with the conference---panels, presentations and readings---are free and open to the public.

One of the few entirely self-supporting conferences in the nation, we offer need-based, merit-based, and minority-based scholarships, including a Taos Resident Award, a Native Writer Award, a Hispanic Writer Award and the D.H. Lawrence Fellowship.
