MASTER CLASS RETREAT SERIES offers a unique opportunity for women writers to be in residence and study with a master teacher. Six writers participate in craft-focused writing workshops, as well as one-on-one sessions with the teacher. Each writer is housed in her own cottage in the woods, and meals are prepared by Hedgebrook's in-house chef with produce from our organic garden and local farms. Master Class fees of $2200 cover cottage stay, meals and workshops, and a portion is tax deductible. For an application go to www.hedgebrook.org or call 360-321-4786.

WRITERS IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Hedgebrook is one of the few writer's colonies in the world exclusively dedicated to supporting women writers, and bringing their work to the world through innovative public programs.

Located on beautiful Whidbey Island near Seattle, Hedgebrook awards 40 writers a year with two to six week residencies. Writers come from all over the world to Hedgebrook, and they are emerging and established, writing in all genres, from all walks of life. Six writers are in residence at a time, each housed in her own hand-crafted cottage. At the end of the day, residents share a home-cooked meal in the farmhouse kitchen. The community that forms around the kitchen table is growing in the world, as Hedgebrook hosts alumnae gatherings, events and professional development workshops around the country.

Hedgebrook's on-line application process for 2012 residencies begins in June 2011, and the deadline is in September 2011. Check the website for up-to-date information.
