Description:

For nineteen years this group of writers has been gathering annually to celebrate new work and their publications in China as the New Pastoral Poets. These seven award-winning writers have been anthologized in China for over a decade including a new book On the Monadnock released this year. They have spent their past 30 years staying true to language written beneath the shadow of the mountain Emerson, Thoreau and Kinnell made famous - Mount Monadnock.

Please join us for the annual gathering of the Monadnock New Pastoral Poets as they host their first weekend poetry retreat at Boston University's Sargent Environmental Camp in Hancock, NH.

The weekend will be low-key, collegial, but full with small group (6 maximum) workshops (a primary workshop that meets twice and an optional secondary workshop that meets once), an individual conference with your mentor, readings by participants, writing time, social time, optional actitivites such as some Saturday night acoustic folk music, and conclude with the 20h annual reading by mentors at a banquet held in Del Rossi's Trattoria, Dublin, N.H.

There will also be opportunity to enjoy the 750 acres of Boston University's Sargent Center reservation with over 30 miles of hiking trails, brooks, and ponds. See: www.bu.edu/outdoor

Mail in the registration found at the Monadnock New Pastoral School of Poetry via our website: www.geocities.com/Monadnock.geo or e-mail rmartin1@keene.edu for additional details.

Registration is limited to maintain small workshop size. Deadline: March 22, 2008
