This intensive three-day weekend features a variety of poetry and prose workshops, each with 10 or fewer participants. This is a conference where you write! Of course you will receive feedback, but our workshops emphasize creating new material. You’ll choose one workshop to focus on during the conference which will help you go deeper.

In addition to your workshop, the weekend includes talks, receptions, open mics, tutorials, a bookstore cafe, sunrise yoga and dancing at the Getaway Disco.

Join Peter Murphy in the country of his birth for an extraordinary Writing Getaway at Trigonos, a retreat centre on Lake Nantlle in North Wales. Its 18 acres include an organic farm, walled gardens, meadows, woodlands, streams and striking views of Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in England and Wales. Did you know that Sir Edmund Hillary practiced on Snowdon before conquering Mt. Everest?

You will work each morning immersed in the breathtaking landscape which inspired the legend of King Arthur and the Welsh epic The Mabinogion. Peter, whose unique assignments have helped thousands find voice and direction, will challenge you to stretch your imagination by exploring your personal myth to produce new poems or prose based on life experiences, fantasies and dreams.

This Getaway will get you writing and give you the opportunity to share your new drafts during supportive feedback sessions. In your free time you may continue working, wander the beautiful grounds, explore castles, hike, swim or simply relax. Whether you write poetry or prose, you will return home from this adventure energized by the rugged mountain scenery and excited to continue writing.
