| Description: | Now in its 10th year, the Green Mountain Writers Conference aims to help people who always wanted to write or have tried their hand at writing but became discouraged, couldn't find the time or otherwise were unable to bring their writing projects to completion. The conference meets for a week each summer at an old dance pavilion on the banks of a small private mountain lake. Here, in small classes, workshops, conversations and one-on-one settings, developing writers practice both the art and craft of writing under the guidance of professional writers who also teach writing. The aim of the conference is to give each participant tools to use in their daily life for writing their own stories and poems. Areas of concentration are fiction, creative non-fiction, especially memoir, personal essay and profile writing, and poetry. Participants may read from their work for instant feedback. Beverages, snacks, a hearty lunch, use of the pond and facilities are included. Participants commute or stay at local b&bs and hotels, listed on the website. |
