Description:

The David R. Collins Writers' Conference is in its third year. This three-day conferenceis hosted by the Midwest Writing Center and held on the campus of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa which is located on the Mississippi River.  The conference is named for our founder, David R. Collins, who authored nearly ninety books for children.

The beautiful academic setting, an exceptional faculty of writers who can teach, very affordable tuition and housing, opportunities for individual critiquing, special evening events which may include interaction with an agent or publisher, and a workshop awards reception makes this a conference which is growing quickly and an opportunity aspiring writers should not miss.

The 2008 conference will feature ten workshops each meeting for a total of 4.5 hours.  Each workshop will be limited to twenty participants.  The participants may expect to have "homework" assignments and strong interaction with the others participating as well as the faculty.

The conference participants are very diverse in age, gender, race, and writing experience.  There are many options in registering.  They may take one workshop up to six workshops priced accordingly.

Our faculty members are multi-published, and participants will have an opportunity to purchase faculty members' books.  Midwestern hospitality and a mission to support the creators of the written word make this a special three days in the lives of emerging writers.
