Description: The Nebraska Summer Writers' Conference to be held June 14-20 on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, features the Prairie Schooner Workshops, an extension of the internationally renowned literary journal. Weekend workshops are available, in addition to the week-long conference that also includes panel discussions, literary readings, agent consultations, and receptions. The workshops, in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, are taught by esteemed writers aware of the ins and outs of the publishing industry; students can work closely with these authors, network with publishing professionals, develop life-long friendships among conference attendees, and develop their craft in a generous and richly creative environment. The Conference also offers master classes for those with completed manuscripts. Online access to special content allows students to continue the workshop experience beyond the summer.

This year's keynote speaker is novelist Kurt Andersen, who will teach a weekend workshop and speak at the opening night banquet about his work as a writer, journalist, and cultural commentator. Other workshop opportunities: Mystery writer and actress Harley Jane Kozak will lead a workshop on writing commercial novels; Curtis Sittenfeld, author of the best-selling novel "Prep," will lead a master class in the novel; Meghan Daum ("My Misspent Youth") and Sean Wilsey ("Oh the Glory of It All") will offer insight into the memoir; National Book Award nominee Kim Addonizio discusses inspiration in her poetry workshop; Hilda Raz, editor of Prairie Schooner, leads a master class in poetry. Other authors include fiction writers Brock Clarke ("An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England"), Kelly Braffet ("Josie and Jack"), Owen King ("We're All in This Together"); memoirists Michael Rips ("The Face of a Naked Lady") and Aaron Raz Link ("What Becomes You");  poet Anthony Hawley ("The Concerto Form"); and Jesse Lee Kercheval leading a multi-genre class.
