Description:

CityLit Project nurtures the culture of literature in Baltimore and throughout Maryland. Programs take place around the region and its offices are located at the University of Baltimore.

Named a "can't miss event on the city's cultural scene" (Baltimore Magazine), CityLit Festival is a free, day-long celebration of the literary arts. Past guests have included Edward P. Jones, Steve Coll, Mark Doty, Elizabeth Spires, Junot Diaz, Thomas Glave, Jabari Asim, Tyehimba Jess, Mary Jo Salter, Paul Rusesabagina, Andrei Codrescu, Elizabeth Kostova, Sam Lipsyte, Maryland Poet Laureate Stanley Plumly, actress and NAACP Image Award winner Victoria Rowell, Danielle Evans, and Jaimy Gordon. Attendees can catch many other acclaimed writers and emerging voices, as well. The festival is presented with partner the Enoch Pratt Free Library.

"Write Here, Write Now" workshops for writers take place throughout the year at various locations. CityLit Kids and CityLit Teens focus on youth. CityLit Press conducts two poetry chapbook contests each year and publishes three to four stand-alone titles per year.
