Description:

Founded in 1991 by Irene Graham, The Creative Writer's Workshop is an internationally renowned writing method and retreat for new and establisehd writers. Based upon right-brain/left-brain learning techniques and exercises using cognitive learning skills, The Creative Writer's Workshop is offered as Residential Writing Retreats at magnificent locations throughout Ireland. The Creative Writer's Workshop is also offered annually as an online ten week workshop for Developing and Writing a Novel. The workshop, now in its 20th year, is approved by The Department of Education & Science in Ireland. Irene Graham is Author of The Memoir Writing Workbook which is included as course material in her memoir writing workshops.

4 day Writer's Retreat in a 14th Century Castle set in the heart of W.B. Yeats countryside in Ireland amidst 500 acres of secluded woodlands and gardens. Lovingly restored by its owners Markree Castle is the perfect writer's haven offering peace, relaxation and good food.

This four day writing retreat is for the creative traveller and writer who wants to discover and develop their writing skills as they source inner creativity and imagination through the medium of writing. This is an exclusive residential Writer's Retreat for ten writers. The workshop is open to new and established writers.

The Creative Writer's Workshop guides you through right-brain/left-brain writing techniques and exercises which draw upon imagination as you learn the principles of story creation and how to write creative fiction. 4 Day Work-in-Progress Writers Studio with Irene Graham in the historical home of the accomplished playwright and folkorist Lady Gregory. This is a fitting place for writers to create their masterpieces and enjoy the luxury, peace and tranquility of this Georgian villa.  Mount Vernon is set on the famous Flaggy Shore - the inspirational landscape for Seamus Heaney's poem - The Flaggy Shore.

This 2 day invigorating and unique writing workshop is oriented towards a parent/guardian and a teenager, seeking the opportunity to explore creativity, laugh and create together.

The workshop provides a platform for parent/guardian and teenager to communicate through the medium of writing in a fun and creative environment.

Based upon right-brain/left-brain exercises you will stimulate your own creativity while interacting with the teenager using writing and creative techniques as your medium - and have a lot of fun doing so!

The workshop will focus upon creativity, deepening and enhancing the unique writing voice through the art of creative writing and the development of character within story. You will both learn and understand how characters are created, how to develop them and learn techniques to imaginatively incorporate your character into the structure of story.

Set in the harbour village of Kinvara, just 25 minutes south of Galway City and 20 minutes north of the Burren Mountains in Co. Clare, this is an idyllic setting which will inspire your creative abilities as you write and engage in the many outdoor possibilities offered in this rare and beautiful landscape. Description:

This is an exclusive residential Writer's Retreat for eleven writers. The workshop is open to new and established writers.

The ideal participant will be committed to the writing process and is seeking an experience and in-depth understanding of fiction writing, story creation and personal creativity, coupled with the great outdoors. It is required that the participant is capable of walking two to three hours at a time.

Throughout 5 days and 4 nights the group will write and explore inner creativity and engage in inspiring walks around Inis Mór - the largest of the Aran Islands. The duration of each walk is flexible - 2/3 hours across easy terrain (not mountain trekking!). This workshop will provide the perfect setting for you to discover and develop your writing skills as you tap into your imagination, not only through writing, but by enjoying and exploring the rugged and invigorating terrain of Inis Mór island.

Experience island life as you learn to kick back to a pace conducive to writing and thinking creatively.

Using right-brain/left-brain writing techniques and exercises, the creative writing workshops throughout the week will focus upon creativity, deepening and enhancing your unique writing voice through the art of creative writing and the development of story.

You will understand how characters are created, how to develop them and learn techniques to imaginatively incorporate your character into the structure of story. You will also concentrate upon Theme within story as you learn how to weave and integrate life experiences into story narrative.

You will be enthralled by guided walks to the ancient island sites as you listen to mythical stories told by Dara Ó Maoildhia, a great storyteller and Celtic scholar living on Inis Mór.

You will also delight in a pony trap ride to one of these ancient sites! In the evenings you will be able to mix with the locals and enjoy Irish Traditional music. You will also have plenty of time to explore the island in your own time, or to just sit and write, as you overlook the vast Atlantic Ocean.

This is a unique opportunity to discover your inner creativity as you connect with the landscape in the peaceful and unspoilt environment of Inis Mór island.

The walks and visits to ancient sites on the island will be guided by Dara Ó Maoildhia, a Celtic scholar living on Inis Mór.
