Lighthouse Writers Workshop is an independent literary center in the heart of downtown Denver. Housed in the historic Thomas Hornsby Ferril house that saw literary lions like Dorothy Parker, Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg, and others come together in the great tradition of writerly togetherness. We believe that writers need other writers, and that while the art of creative writing may be solitary, community serves a necessary function. We run year-round workshops (from intro-level to master classes), a summer Lit Fest, an annual retreat in Grand Lake, and much more. Our students have published with HarperCollins, Random House, Little, Brown, and elsewhere, and have won Colorado Book Awards and have been finalists for such awards as the PEN/Hemingway. Our faculty have won NEA and Stegner Fellowships, Provincetown Fellowships, Colorado Book Awards, and lots of other great stuff. But mostly, we just hire awesome writers who love to teach. We tend to attract awesome writers who love to be part of something. In the end, that's what makes it all work. More information...
